The Bible says: “In the beginning was the word, and the word was God.” This leads the reader to believe that the first word uttered by man was ‘God.’ More importantly, first and foremost, God is a word. We can see today that the word ‘God’ has been around for so long that it’s been translated, defined and redefined an endless amount of times.
Some believe God to mean Love, Light, Infinity, Universe, Consciousness. Some believe it means an old man in the sky controlling our existence. Some believe it means nothing at all. Black’s law dictionary defines God as the source of everything good. And then right below, it describes blasphemy as to where the denial of God is punishable by the highest local penance. Doesn’t sound too good to me.
Terrance Mckenna has a great quote: “The world is made of words and when you know the words the world is made of; you can have anything you want.”
So we can conclude that the world is not made of God, but that God and its meanings are made of words. We can also see that Man is obviously the creator of words. Which leads me to believe that Man created God. And so the cycle of ‘the chicken and the egg’ question continues.
This leads me to believe that God and Man know everything there is to know about our existence except for where We came from. And the anxiety that comes from this unknowing, fuels us into creating an existence full of meaning for ourselves. Quite literally and figuratively, whatever We want it to mean. Where everything must be reduced to a single word and defined, in order for it to exist.
Whatever God means to you, it is undeniable that when a word has been around as long as God has, the meaning tends to get lost in translation. So what does God mean to you? Do you think you can define it and sell it to the rest of humanity as Truth? Many have been trying for a large fraction of our existence.
At this point I have zero intention of redefining God for you. My sole intent is to define God for myself to the best of my ability.
As far as I can tell, God is a powerful word created by Man for the expression of pure Love. And because of the misunderstanding caused by the effect of the generational game of telephone, its meaning has been translated from a place of fear and confusion, which has evolved into a form of controlling each other, rather than uplifting one another.
Moreover, I would argue that God represents the only observer of the Truth of Your world. In the sense that You or God is the only one that knows the Truth about Yourself. Only You know what you’ve done or haven’t done. Only You know what you’ve been through to get here. Nobody can speak for You more accurately than You can. And so if You choose to lie to others and to Yourself, it is no different than denying God’s existence. Denying God is the denial of the Truth of who You are.
Now that we’re waking up to ourselves, beginning to understand who we are, and what we’re made of, we can define God and every other word for ourselves without fear of judgment, persecution, or punishment. In pure, unconditional Love. Just as it was intended to be. Just as We really want it to be.
